Technical Tours
Registration
It will not be possible to register onsite for the technical tours.
Technical tours will be organized for Thursday, May 20, 2010 to underground and tunnel projects that have been recently completed and are planned to be under construction.
This is a reminder that, if you need a visa to enter Canada, you will need to have a MULTIPLE ENTRY VISA for Canada if you participate in one of the Brightwater Tunnel tours in Washington state, USA. You are also responsible to obtain (in advance) an entry visa for the United States, if required.
The following technical tours will be available:

Brightwater Conveyance System – CENTRAL Project, Seattle, USA ; at a cost of $80.00 and will include bus transportation and a lunch. Limit of 25 participants. FULL
Site visit at Brightwater Conveyance System, CENTRAL Project, tunnel sections 2 and 3, underground works including 9.7 km bored with a Slurry pressure TBM (external diameter 5.3 m) , 2 access shafts (28 and 60 m deep) and a 1 km long connecting sewer (with a diameter varying from 0.92 to 1.83 m) of which 500 m bored with a microtunnel boring machine.
Participants will see the set-up at the work shaft and will be given a presentation of the project by Vinci Construction experts. Participants will not go underground.
The Congress will supply hard hats but participants should wear comfortable shoes.
The site visit is provided through the courtesy of Vinci / Parsons RCI / Frontier-Kemper JV.
(Before leaving their home country, each participant must make sure that their travel arrangements include proper documentation to cross Canada-USA borders. Please note that it is the responsibility of each participant to have with them the proper documentation to enter the USA i.e. passport, visa (if required), etc.
Upon arrival at the WTC2010, please check with the WTC 2010 Registration for any last minute changes.

Brightwater Conveyance System – WEST Project, Seattle, USA ; at a cost of $80.00 and will include bus transportation and a lunch. Limit of 50 participants.
Site visit at Brightwater Conveyance System, WEST Project, underground works including 6.4 km bored with a Earth Pressure Balance(EPB) TBM (external diameter 4.7 m). The site access porthole is located on the shore of Puget Sound where site infrastructure is based. The EPB TBM has driven 6.4 km of tunnel experiencing continuous ground pressures of 5 bar.
The site visit will include a presentation of the project, walking tour of the site porthole and a possible view of the completed tunnel.
The Congress will supply hard hats but participants should wear comfortable shoes.
